Who is FAN

Film Access Northumberland (FAN) is a Canadian registered charity (No. 792839540RR0001) powered by a group of energetic volunteers who celebrate film and the film arts.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is “To promote community, tolerance and understanding through the art of film” and we achieve this mission by:

  1. Informing contemporary issues through insightful docs, masterclasses and fictional films

  2. Concentrating on past works except when showcasing emerging filmmakers

  3. Encouraging diverse perspectives inclusive of all cultures, religions, races and sexual orientations

  4. Maintaining an apolitical stance even when featuring political films

  5. Investing in our youth

Our vision is encapsulated in three words:

Connect, Include, Expand

Connect

  • With our community

  • Explore the extensive film canon through a broad format across multiple venues—such as workshops, Q&As, masterclasses, art and photo exhibits, and travelling exhibits

Include

  • Attract corporate sponsors and high-value partners

  • Welcome all film lovers, new and old, from all cultures and communities

Expand

  • Our perspective, the voices of our youth, and the viewpoints of our audiences

FAN proudly realizes its mission and vision by holding its flagship event, the Eye2Eye Film Festival, running high school film programs, partnering with other arts organizations (e.g., the Hispanic Film Festival, the Art Gallery of Northumberland, etc) and holding unique film events (e.g., Reel Creatures) throughout Northumberland County.
