Eye2Eye Film Festival 2021

Message from Ross Pigeau, FAN Chair

A Welcome from FAN.

The new kid in town, Film Access Northumberland (FAN) is a registered charity with a talented and dedicated Board of Directors. Our mission is to support new filmmakers, to expose Northumberland to film arts everywhere and to link the broader film industry to art organizations in our area. Our vision — Connect, Include, Expand — is simple, but it hides a complex message. We will connect diverse communities, include all cultures and expand perspectives to ensure a more tolerant and aware society.

Take Eye2Eye for example. As FAN’s flagship event, Eye2Eye will be an annual three-day international film festival planned for the first weekend in June. Chockfull of curated films, masterclasses, Q&A’s, and filmmakers, Eye2Eye will be an extravaganza. We hope to partner with arts organizations, with local venues, with schools and with all interested communities. At least that’s the plan. This year COVID altered Eye2Eye’s timeline and abbreviated its format, but it has not dampened our enthusiasm and excitement. This year, think of Eye2Eye as FAN’s “Coming Out Party”, giving you a taste of what’s to come!

I would like to thank the Town of Cobourg, CAMECO, the Art Gallery of Northumberland, Watershed Magazine, Cathie & Les Houston, Shaftesbury, our donors, committee members and volunteers. Most of all, thank you, our supporters. Share the excitement. Enjoy the evening. And see you next June.

Message from Micol Marotti, Festival Director

Welcome to the 1st annual Eye2Eye International Film Festival - a celebration of everything film! Our beautiful Northumberland County is home to a thriving arts community, supported by our enthusiastic audiences. This year we present an abridged version of our future festival as we ease our way back into theatres. More than ever our industry and our audiences have depended on each other to stay connected, to sustain our spirits, and to form new and exciting partnerships. The Eye2Eye Festival was created to better connect our community to world-class talent and films, and to present our local and diverse talent to Canada’s wider film community.

A very special thank you to Olinda Casimiro, the Art Gallery of Northumberland and Elizabeth Palermo for letting us show off the incredible talents of both the artists featured in the AGN’s Spotlight Series 3 and the filmmakers who created these compelling shorts. Thank you to SNCF and for letting us screen their visually stunning short film Fireworks to kick off our international film showcase, and who could ask for two better special guests for our feature presentation than Christina Jennings, (CEO of Canada’s production powerhouse Shaftesbury and EP of Murdoch Mysteries), and Canada’s favorite on screen detective, Murdoch himself, Yannick Bisson?

A personal thank you to the multi-talented Teri Hart for hosting our inaugural Master Class, and the hard-working Eye2Eye Team, and FAN Board. Thank you to our audience! We promise to keep bringing you great films!
