Gaslight

Friday June 7 @ 9:00am - Crime, Drama, Mystery

Ten years after her aunt was murdered in their London home, a woman returns from Italy with her new husband. His obsessive interest in the home hides a secret that may result in driving his young wife insane.

  • Ingrid Bergman plays Paula, an aspiring young opera singer who falls in love with Gregory when studying in Italy. After the two are married, Paula is convinced to move to London. She divulges to Gregory that she actually owns a house there - it was bequeathed to her by her aunt who was murdered in the house and the murder has never been solved. Not having thought about the house in a long time, Paula believes Gregory’s love can help her through whatever pain she may have felt about her aunt's murder. Over time at the house, Paula begins to forget things, lose things, and imagine things - such as an animosity with the new Cockney housekeeper Nancy (Angela Lansbury). Paula becomes isolated in the house and with Gregory’s quiet insistence, feels that she may indeed be going mad.
