  • The Burning Season is the 10th feature film from award-winning Canadian filmmaker, Sean Garrity.

    The press has referred to Sean’s work as “possessing a dark, twisted beauty” and has compared his work to that of David Cronenberg , Atom Egoyan and even Luis Buñuel.

    Sean’s first feature film, INerTia, was awarded “Best First Feature” at the 2001 Toronto International Film Festival, and netted him “Best Director” at the 2001 FilmCan Festival. Sean’s fourth feature My Awkward Sexual Adventure – premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, where it was selected as one of the TIFF Top Ten, it won the Public Choice Award at the 2012 Calgary International Film Festival, and the Audience Award at the 2012 Whistler Film Festival.

    Sean first studied film production and theory at Toronto’s York University and continued his studies at the Instituto de Arte Cinematografico de Avellaneda in Buenos Aires. After spending years backpacking through Asia and South America, Sean returned to his home town of Winnipeg to begin a career as a filmmaker and musician in 1997. Sean speaks four languages, has a masters degree, and also works as a bass player, having appeared on half a dozen CDs, and performs live most weekends in Winnipeg, where he lives.
