  • Earnest theatre director Jeanine (Amanda Seyfried) has been given the task of remounting her former mentor’s most famous work, the opera "Salome". Haunted by dark and disturbing memories from her past, Jeanine allows her repressed trauma to color the present as she re-enters the opera world after so many years away.

    Simone Urdl is an established Toronto-based producer, and co-founder of the production company The Film Farm. Throughout her career, Simone has built a reputation for identifying and nurturing new and established creative talent, and producing projects with vision and integrity, including such acclaimed films as the Academy Award© nominated/Golden Globe winning Away From Her (Sarah Polley), starring Julie Christie; Brian De Palma’sRedacted, winner of the Silver Bear at the Venice Film Festival; Atom Egoyan’s Adoration starring Scott Speedman and Arsinée Khanjian, The Captive starring Ryan Reynolds and Rosario Dawson, both of which premiered in Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival and Guest of Honour starringDavid Thewlis, Laysla De Oliveria and Luke Wilson which had its world premiere in Competition at Venice, 2019 and TIFF 2019. Other notable credits include Last Letter From Your Lover based on the novel by Jojo Moyes, starring Felicity Jones, Shailene Woodley, Callum Turner and Joe Alwyn, and produced with Studio Canal and the UK’s Blueprint Pictures (Netflix 2022), Bent Hamer’s The Middle Man (TIFF 2021), Darlene Naponse’s Falls Around Her(TIFF 2018) which features Tantoo Cardinal in her first starring role; Laurent Cantet’s Foxfire (TIFF 2012) based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates. Simone is currently a producer on Atom Egoyan’s latest film Seven Veils, her fifth collaboration with Egoyan as producer and her tenth project with Egoyan.

    KARIN WELLS, Writer/Journalist

    Karin Wells is a CBC Radio documentary maker and a three-time recipient of the Canadian Association of Journalists documentary award. Her work has been heard on radio networks around the world and has been recognized by the United Nations. Wells is also a lawyer and in 2011 was inducted into the University of Ottawa’s Common Law Honour Society. Wells is the author of”The Abortion Caravan: When Women Shut Down Government in the Battle for the Right to Choose” and “More than a Footnote: Canadian Women You Should Know”.
